May 2016 Book Haul

Hey everybody!

I’m back to post my book haul for the month of May. I am posting it early because I do not plan on buying any more books this month…..or next month (which I will explain later on in this post). I’m going to post the synopsis of each book and you guys can decide if you want to read them or not! 🙂

“When We Collided” by Emery Lord: Jonah never thought a girl like Vivi would come along. Vivi didn’t know Jonah would light up her world. Neither of them expected a summer like this…a summer that would rewrite their futures.

“The Haters” by Jesse Andrews: There is nothing Wes and Corey can’t hate on. Even bands they love. In fact, they are incapable of loving anything without relentlessly figuring out ways to hate on it, too. And so when they are sent to a place as soul-crushing as jazz camp – which is populated almost completely by competitive maniacs who are trying to seem chill by talking in Jazz Voice – Wes and Corey hate on it with extreme prejudice. Fortunately, so does a girl named Ash, who may even be a bigger and better hater than the two of them combined. When the three of them run away from camp, start their own band, and go on tour, it seems like a great idea. Except that they are faced with a basically unanswerable question: How can confirmed haters even try to make music that maybe doesn’t suck?

“The F- It List” by Julie Halpern: Becca has cancer. She’s doesn’t know what the outcome of her treatment will be. Alex is Becca’s best friend, and wants to help. And if the only way she can is by completing Becca’s bucket list, then so be it.

“The Way I Used To Be” by Amber Smith: Eden was always good at being good. Band geek. Book nerd. Starting high school didn’t change that. But the night her brother’s best friend rapes her, Eden’s whole world capsizes. What was once simple is now complex. What Eden once loved – who she loved – she now hates. What she believed was the truth, now lies. Nothing makes sense any more, and she’s never felt so alone in her life. She knows she’s supposed to tell someone what happened. But she can’t. So she buries it instead. And she buries the way she used to be.

“Geek Girl” by Holly Smale: Harriet Manners is a geek. As if the Oxford English Dictionary on her nightstand isn’t enough of a clue, there also the fact that no one appreciates her extensive trivia knowledge, and the way her nemesis, Alexa, mocks her at school. So when Harriet is discovered by a modeling agency, she leaps at the chance to reinvent herself. Harriet isn’t sure she’ll ever learn to navigate the terrifying world of high fashion – at least not without falling off a runway and embarrassing herself in front of her gorgeous new costar, Nick. But ready or not, Harriet is about to learn whether she has what it takes to transform from geek to chic.

I also bought the Harry Potter book series special edition box set.

The only books I possibly might buying in the month of June are birthday/Christmas presents for friends and family. I told my little sister that if I buy any books for myself, she has the right to yell and scream at me. I actually am going out-of-state quite a few times over the summer and I need to be saving up…….not buying books.

Until next time,

Stephanie
