Summer Goals 2016 update #4

Hey everybody!

I am back with my last update for my Summer Goals of 2016. School has begun and Fall is just around the corner.

READING:

  • I have read 9/15 books this summer. I am currently 3 books behind on my GoodReads Challenge for this year. I am mad at myself for not reading as much as I would’ve liked.
  • I failed in not buying a lot of books this summer. I actually bought about 50+ throughout the entire summer.

WRITING:

  • I have not written anything since I last updated. I suck at this writing thing.

That is it for this update! I’ll see you guys in my next post!

Book Review: “Beautiful Bastard” by Christina Lauren

Hey guys!

A couple weeks ago, I finished “Beautiful Bastard” by Christina Lauren. This book is definitely one that I recommend to those over the age of 18 (due to sexual content).

This book is about a girl named Chloe and her boss, Bennett. Chloe and Bennett have a sort of love-hate relationship and when, one night, things get heated between them, everything changes. They enter into a sexual relationship and that’s when things get interesting. Things happen…hearts get broken…relationships get repaired…people fall in love…

I heard about this book from a friend of mine on Facebook. She said it was in the Top 10 on the New York Times Bestselling list and so I decided to check it out. I was hooked from the beginning! I absolutely love this book and I cannot wait to read the rest of the series!

Until next time,

Stephanie

Book Review: “Angus, Thongs, and Full-Frontal Snogging” by Louise Rennison

Hey everybody!

So, a couple weeks ago, I finished reading “Angus, Thongs, and Full-Frontal Snogging” by Louise Rennison. This book was a strange one.

This book is about a 14-year-old girl named Georgia Nicolson. Her cat, Angus, is a half-tabby half-Scottish wildcat. Angus always gets into a lot of trouble…he also eats everything in sight. Georgia struggles with the issues of teenage girls – boys being the very¬†first thing. When she starts to develop feelings for Robbie (aka. Sex God), she does everything in her power to break up him and his girlfriend, Lindsey.

So…I honestly didn’t really enjoy this book. It sounded like it was written by a five-year-old and some of the terminology was just horrendous. I have never heard most¬†the terms that were used before. I’m a college student with students enrolled from a lot of different countries and I’ve never heard them before. This book was so bad that it was hilarious.

Until next time,

Stephanie

Life Updates

Hey everybody!

I know I haven’t posted much the last few weeks, but I wanted to give you guys an update on what’s been going on.

A have a few book reviews that I never posted…….they aren’t even written yet. I am just going to post them all at the end of the month. I’m hoping to post: 2-3 book reviews, August Wrap-up/Book Haul, and September TBR.

I AM PUTTING MYSELF ON A BOOK-BUYING BAN!!!!! I, legitimately, bought almost 30 books this month (24 to be exact). I made a promise to myself that I would not buy anymore books (for myself) until sometime in 2017 (or I, somehow, manage to read 54 books by the end of the year).

College is also starting up on Monday. This is my last year in community college (it’s taken me 3 years to complete). I graduate in the Spring with my Associates Degree in Mass Communication (also known as Communication Studies or Media Studies). I’m hoping I can get some time to read this year in between doing homework, going to classes, and working at my job.

Also, earlier this month (last weekend, actually) I went back to Hershey Park. This time, it was to see Shawn Mendes in concert (I inserted a picture of our seats below). And I actually went to the park this time! I had so much fun! I went with one of my best friends. She actually just left a few days ago for her freshman year of college at a 4-year university. It was my last time seeing her before she moved away for a while. I miss her already!

…………

…………

Anyway, that’s my life right now and my plans for this blog for the next couple of months. I’ll see you guys in my next post!

Update

Hey guys!

I don’t know if you guys have noticed, but I have been (slowly) updating my blog. I have been adding pictures and editing blog posts. Some of my older posts are a lot more advanced than my newer posts because I’ve been working on those first. Please be kind to me while I am doing this.

Thank you,

Stephanie

Book Review: “School Spirits” by Rachel Hawkins

Hey everybody!

So…..a few days ago, I finished reading “School Spirits” by Rachel Hawkins and I absolutely loved it! This books is a spin-off stand alone novel of the Hex Hall series (also by Rachel Hawkins).

This book follows Izzy Brannick, the cousin of Sophie Mercer, as she gets her first case. This case just happens to be a haunting at a high school in Mississippi. Izzy and her Mom travel to Ideal, Mississippi to deal with the haunting and out it to rest. But things are not always what they seem. Izzy starts to fall in love with a normal boy who thinks she’s a normal girl. She makes friends and her Mom says that she’s getting too close to the case and needs to separate herself from them. She, obviously, doesn’t follow her Mom’s wishes. Things get out of hand, but Izzy proves herself to her mother.

I absolutely adored the Hex Hall series, so when I found out about a spin-off book, I had to get it right away……even though it took me a couple years to read it. I especially liked the character of Dex. I loved this book and I really want a sequel, but Rachel Hawkins already stated that she will not be writing a sequel. *insert sad face here*

Until next time,

Stephanie

DNF: “Beautiful Creatures” by Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl

Hey guys!

Once again, as you can tell by the title, I am DNF-ing this book. I am mainly DNF-ing it because it is extremely boring.

I watched the movie when it first came out and I absolutely adored it. About a year or so ago, my best friend gave me the book and said she didn’t like it because it was boring and nothing like the movie (she said the movie was better). I waited a while to read it. I went into the book with very high expectations and was upset when it turned out boring.

I know that if I put this book down and pick it back up a bit later, I might enjoy it. But, for now, it is in my DNF pile.

Until next time,

Stephanie
